Xander Ferreira took some time out to chat to SA Promo.
Who is Xander Ferreira?
I am a humble farm boy from Ohrigstad, Limpopo province. Who works with an unstoppable drive on all his projects, with a selfless dedication in the creation of opportunity for those around him.
What inspired your music?
Growing up with various influences as a kid ranging between my fathers disco like Boney M and the sounds of Johnny Clegg and the Savuka, Ladysmith Black Mbazo and an array of different sights
and sounds..
What is the goal with your music?
To create a voice that can speak, influence and inspire…We live in a time that very few artists take the great gift of musicianship in a responsible way of impacting the world in a positive way. Taking the opportunity to make a real difference for the goodness of humanity. Speak out about wrong
things in the world.
I work hard to be able to create and opportunity for others. I work with various musicians and a dancing group called Youth on Top. I want to share in what I have and will be given…
Where do you want to take your new flavour of music?
All across the universe to as many ears hearts and minds as possible… Let the word speak of LIMPOP… There is no limit to this…
But in the upcoming months will be doing another SA tour and then also a European tour.
In which countries have you performed?
Denmark, Sweden, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, England, France,….and Azania…
How did it all start for Xander?
Slowly…its still starting, I dont know when and where but it is something that grows every day. I was born and grew up in Ohrigstad Limpopo province on my fathers farm, Nie-te-ver. I think something starts when you show love for it, then it comes to a natural progression in growth. Music was always around, if my Grandmother drove us anywhere we used to sing songs like bobejaan klim die berg. When we went hunting with my father and uncles we used to sing and dance around the fire…..
How important is Afrikaans to you?
Dit is baie belangrik….It is very important, it is my mother tongue……the language of my dreams……the language that I use when I am very happy or very sad…..I think it is one of the most beautiful expressive languages with an amazing irony and humour.
