The new Miss Universe has been crowned at a glamorous ceremony hosted at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood during the early hours of Monday morning, 17 May. Mexico’s Andrea Meza walked away with the title, and she was crowned by South Africa’s very own Zozibini Tunzi.

This is the first time the pageant was hosted since the pandemic, in 2020 the ceremony was cancelled – meaning that Tunzi reigned as Miss Universe for an extra year.
Actor and television host Mario Lopez and former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo played host to the event.
Meza grew up in Chihuahua City, is the oldest of three siblings and is 27 years old. She has a degree in software engineering from the Autonomous University of Chihuahua. She is also the third woman from Mexico to hold the title of Miss Universe.
The first runner-up is Brazil’s Julia Gama and Janick Maceta Del Castillo from Peru holds the title of second runner-up.
Natasha Joubert (23) represented South Africa and was not placed, but wowed judges with her dresses.
The reigning Miss South Africa Shudufhadzo Musida will participate in the Miss World pageant – giving Joubert the opportunity to enter this pageant.
