On walking in we were immediately ushered to our table. A nice wine list, well chosen to compliment the pizza and pasta dishes was presented together with the menus. Toni’s offers a choice of thirty gourmet pizzas! What I liked most about the pasta dishes was that one is able to choose between eight different pasta and sauce combinations. In most restaurants the type of pasta and sauce is already combined and given a fancy name, take it or leave it, but here you have a choice. And… one of the healthiest herbs is used in abundance, I could smell it before I got out of the car ~ Garlic! You don’t have a choice of salads and the menu just says “Ask about the house Salad”, se we did, and… You have to order the salad! It is Greek, French, Italian, and German with a South African twist.
My wife selected two small pizzas, one with prawns, fennel seeds, rocket, and lemon and garlic butter. The second pizza offered the three colours of the Italian flag: smoked salmon, a special crème, caviar and chives.
My wife is a dedicated pizza lover and she struggled to find the words to describe this feast. It deserves more than a big WOW! Ravioli with a sauce combination of chorizo, tomato, garlic, parmesan, chilli, lemon-zest, chives and cream was my choice for the evening, together with a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. I wanted this meal to last all night!
The last four pizzas on Toni’s menu are actually desserts. The banana, toasted almonds, honey and cream pizza ensured that my wife and I reached for slice after slice, eating without worrying about our figures. Try Toni’s – you won’t be disappointed!
