Prince Harry returned to the UK on Monday, 12 April ahead of his grandfather the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral which will take place on Saturday.
Buckingham Palace broke the news of his death on Friday, following a short illness. The prince was 99 years old when he passed on, three months short of his 100 year birthday celebration.
Royal photographer Chris Jackson posted a tribute to the Duke on his Instagram, with a photograph from a magazine in 1957 – and it is uncanny how similar Prince Philip and Prince Harry look. Almost a copy paste of each other.
Young Prince Philip sports the exact same smile as Prince Harry, with reddish hair and the same facial structure.
“I was blown away the minute I spotted it,” Jackson wrote in his post. “It always reminds me of the unique, historic reference points that Royal photography provides.”
On his return to the UK after a year of being away, Harry called his grandfather a “man of service, honor, and great humor.”
“He will be remembered as the longest-reigning consort to the Monarch, a decorated serviceman, a Prince and a Duke,” he wrote. “But to me, like many of you who have lost a loved one or grandparent over the pain of this past year, he was my grandpa: master of the barbecue, legend of banter, and cheeky right ’til the end.”
