Covid-19 masks have been worn for two years now. And just as we felt at the beginning of the pandemic, the masks surely must go now. While there are many other variants going around, the virus is at the point where it might not affect us in a detrimental way anymore.

Covid-19 masks to be done away with

Right now, Professor Karim suggests South Africa is ready to be rid of some of the Covid-19 restrictions. While there are some restrictions that have to stay for caution, Covid-19 masks will have to go in outdoor places or gatherings.

As reported by Cape Town etc, Professor Salim Abdul Karim is not sure about the new rules that the cabinet will decide on. But, as of now, the Covid-19 masks are still mandatory in public and indoor gatherings.

While the new mask rules will allow South Africans to be mask-free outdoors, indoor mask-wearing will still be compulsory. This is especially for poorly ventilated venues where the transmission of the virus will be more prominent.

Outdoor and indoor gatherings

“South Africa needs to [recalibrate] its approach to the pandemic and to start managing it as we would do for other respiratory infections which to cause a large number of hospitalizations and deaths.

To date, South Africa has recorded 1, 147 Covid-19 positive cases on Sunday the 6th of March. Thus far, no deaths have been recorded. In a recently published study, South Africa is ready to move into a Covid-19 recovery phase.

Right now, South Africans might be able to actually breathe. Without fearing that the virus will affect them in a serious way. It seems that life will continue to go back to normalcy to its entirety this time around.
