To make some sense of this video – the EFF MP Andile Mngxitama was supposed to conduct a press conference. Heaven knows what happened, but it’s ben his own party member that prevented it. In the end he needed to be escorted out of the hotel – some say he had to run for his life.
Some disgruntled EFF members refused to leave the venue and said they wanted to hear what Mngxitama had to say. According to Mngxitama’s press alert sent earlier, the press briefing would clarify “Why some of the EFF MP’s can’t sing #paybackthemoney”.
If the politics don’t make much sense, at least we now know that most EFF members are not really adept at throwing punches. The were fighting like a bunch of drunk Bulls supporters in a ladies bar.
That does not say much for their plans to disrupt President Jacob Zuma’sState of the Nation Address later today a special sitting of the National Assembly.
Update – Mngxitama tweeted: “I’m alive. The press briefing shall happen today.” and “Thanks to those fighters who protected me against the uninformed fighters.”
He told SAPA (the press association that will be closing next month): “Yes, I was assaulted. I will call another media briefing.” Let’s get ready for round 2. Enjoy the video. With a nation of political animals like these, what canever go wrong… go wrong… go wrong…
