After two days of loadshedding, Eskom has warned South Africans to prepare for more outages for the rest of winter due to a strained supply. On Sunday, 16 May Eskom implemented Stage 2 loadshedding after 10 generating units broke down.
The power utility said on Tuesday morning that they would suspend load shedding for the morning and implement it again at 5pm. This is to ease supply constraints currently experienced.
“Over the past 24 hours Eskom teams have returned seven generation units to service. This has helped eased the supply constraints, and enabled Eskom to suspend loadshedding at this point.
“We are currently experiencing high evening peaks, which is typical f the winter demand period. Should there be any further deterioration in the generation capacity, loadshedding many be necessary, most likely between 17:00 and 22:00 during the winter period,” the statement read.
