Massive Land Claim in Pretoria the day after SONA 2015

We haven’t even recovered from the so-called president Zoemster’s State of Disruption speech in our dishonourable parliament and now we wake op the news that a massive land claim, that involves some 500 privately-owned properties, north-east of Pretoria, was published in the Government Gazette.

Land Expropriation

The Pretoria East Rekord reports that the planned land grab is being made by a one Victor Lekhulene and involves not only nine farms, but shopping centres, private homes and even a private school.

Lekhulene’s claim cover the area from the Cullinan/KwaMhlanga intersection to west of the Zambezi Mall, Derdepoort, Mamelodi, Koedoespoort, Die Poort primary school, several churches and the Derdepark Shopping Centre. In the east, the claim involved the Pretoria German School in Wilgers, other areas in Wilgers, Willow Park and Wapadrand. Some areas in the eastern Moot are also included.

According to the Government Gazette, the claim involves some 500 privately-owned properties. It was published that within 60 days inputs must be given to oppose the claim.

Residents of Derdepoort will have a community meeting tomorrow (Saturday, 14 February) at 07h00 at Plot 23, Mountain Drive in Derdepoort to discuss how to fight this claim.

The Cacton News Service says the claim comes after ANC secretary-general Gwede Mantashe last month said the ruling party was calling for a cap on land ownership in South Africa.

Mantashe said the party had suggested a maximum ownership of 12 000 hectares or two farms for both natural and all forms of legal persons.

Last year, it was reported that just under 5 500 new land claims have been lodged across South Africa, with most claimants reportedly seeking money instead of land.
