The Western Cape is experiencing a wet winter season with some snow, which the locals are most thankful for, especially after coming so close to being the first city in the world to run out of potable water four years ago.
With rainfall comes icy-cold temperatures in the high-lying areas of the province and even some snowfall. On Monday, Matroosberg Reserve notified visitors that they are expecting some light snowfall and will alert people as soon as they have more information.
Mountain Passes ZA shared pictures of light snowfall on the mountain top, but the reserve has not made an announcement yet of how far up the snow is.
A dusting of snow can be seen covering the peaks at the top of the Matroosberg Mountain Range. With light snowfall, the trails are only accessible by 4×4 vehicles – so if you are hoping to catch a glimpse you might be out of luck.
With minimum temperatures below freezing and more rainfall predicted for the reserve for next week – there is a chance it might snow a little heavier. Be on the lookout for updates from Matroosberg Reserve about the snow and the accessibility.
