State of disaster ends but gains a lot of criticism

The national State of disaster has finally come to an end but Twitter is criticizing the timing thereof as we had it for two years.

State of disaster is one way of putting the myriad of issues that South Africa is facing currently. Since the pandemic is not a major issue anymore, South Africa can finally focus on moving forward.

While it should be good news that the State of disaster has ended, many feel that the government is doing very little to change the state of the country in fact.

According to Times Live, the government should be focussing on increasing the SRD Grant so that the unemployed can access their essentials under the increasing inflation prices.

State of disaster ends after two years

Right now, the tourism sector is happy that the State of disaster has ended. But they now require the government to lift travel restrictions as well.

There is no doubt that travel restrictions have a major impact on the tourism industry. As many parents traveling would still have to pay for a PCR test.

Now, PCR tests cost around R3000 rand to get and many do not have this extra cash lying around. As it would need to be taken within 72 hours.

For those who are unvaccinated, it would be a very difficult situation to be in. Previously, there have been previous talks of vaccinations being enforced but this has not happened.

Twitter weighs in

Currently, Twitter is actually joking about the fact that many haven’t gotten vaccinated until the State of disaster has ended.

Among some of the other problems, South Africans are having is the fact the nation address really took place as often when the coronavirus pandemic hit the country.

Cyril Ramaphosa has also gained a lot of attention through the fact that he did not adequately address crimes that take place in the country. Much of his failures have made their rounds and many are not happy at the moment.

Isn't it crazy that the first time we've had a #FamilyMeeting as a country was because of Covid? with all the other issues we face in the country like crime, violence, corruption etc. that needs addressing. pic.twitter.com/spOh7LpUZD
