Amid the chaos following days of looting and unrest in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng, came a solution to stop criminals in their slippery tracks.
A video, now shared widely, shows guards emptying oil onto the shopping centre floors outside a Shoprite store. It is a foolproof way to stop looters and criminals in their tracks – and slow them down long enough for them to be arrested.
Shortly after, you can see looters slipping, sliding and falling on their oil – it also acted as a deterrent for others to think twice before they went any closer to the store.
Hopefully this trend will catch on until the unrest is brought under control in the troubled provinces.
