HIV has been studied for over a decade and a cure could not exactly be found. Recent studies show that a stem transplant now helps the body fight this deadly virus. While this study is incredibly significant, only individuals with Leukemia are able to get this treatment. The New York resident was first diagnosed with HIV in 2013. And as many would know, this disease attacks the immune system and makes the body vulnerable to several other diseases. As a result, umbilical cords will now be collected even though it was once thought useless. This treatment, however, is extremely high risk and will only be adopted in patients with Leukemia. This study has been presented at the Conference for Retroviruses as a previous case for two men had also been successful. Presently, experts relay that the patient will be closely monitored as though the virus could appear again. While this may be the case, researchers have now found other grounds in which to create the cure for HIV.
