As investigations continue into the Van Breda family murder, a close family friend is said to have told The Sunday Times weekly, Marli van Breda (16) and her brother Henri – the sole survivors of a brutal murder that claimed the lives of their parents and brother – are the main beneficiaries of an estate valued about R200m. Legal representatives have been appointed to wrap up the estate of the murdered couple, Martin and Teresa van Breda, who ran property businesses in Australia and South Africa.

Marli, who survived axe injuries during the attack in January was discharged from hospital about ten days ago. She is held in a rehabilitation centre of which the location is being held a close secret. Her brother, Henri, only sustained minor injuries. Certain experts claim they were self-inflicted. The clinic have advised that there should be no contact between Marli and her brother Henri. It is also reported that Marli has made no attempts to contact her brother.

The couple and their other son, 22-year-old, Rudi, did not survive the attack. No arrests have been made in the case.
